Aricha Wubanchi, Ethiopia

Aricha Wubanchi washing station sits at 2,213 metres above sea level in Yirgacheffe and works with around 1,700 local smallholder farmers. Families cultivate local JARC varieties on small garden plots around their homes, the region’s characteristic “garden coffees.”

Cherries are selectively hand-picked at peak ripeness and processed using the Supernatural method: a carefully controlled fermentation during drying that enhances complexity and sweetness. Temperature, Brix and moisture are closely monitored before the coffee is rested, milled and meticulously sorted for export.

A clean and delicate cup, full of sweetness and complexity. Expect notes of watermelon and stone fruits such as apricot and nectarine, lifted by floral violet aromas, white chocolate and bergamot. A sweet, medium acidity brings balance to its intensely fruity character.
