Amid the verdant hills of Rwanda's western province, in the Rutsiro district, Nzungize Keza Anita carries on her family’s rich legacy. As a third-generation coffee farmer, she inherited this role from her grandfather, who established Nkora Coffee in 1947 under the decree of King Mutara III Rudahigwa. With 4,800 coffee trees surrounding her, her farm stands as a testament to her family's deep-rooted connection to the land and its vibrant coffee heritage.

Becoming a part of COOPAC was a pivotal moment in Keza’s journey. It granted her access to premium markets and invaluable training in modern farming practices. With COOPAC’s support, she honed her skills in cultivating high-quality coffee, enhancing both the flavor and yield of her harvests.

This year, Kigeyo earned the Best of Rwanda award, securing 15th place. At Earth Coffee, we’re proud to offer such a premium coffee in our collection.

Kigeyo represents the pinnacle of Rwandan coffee craftsmanship. Cultivated at high altitude in Rutsiro's renowned growing region, this Red Bourbon varietal undergoes meticulous washed processing to reveal its distinctive character. Keza's unwavering commitment to ethical sourcing and quality excellence has earned recognition within specialty coffee circles, creating a direct link between discerning coffee enthusiasts and Rwanda's rich coffee heritage.

Kigeyo is a Red Bourbon unlike the ones you’re used to. A washed Rwandan gem that shines with vibrant brightness, sweetness, and an unexpectedly fruity character reminiscent of red apple, praline, and warm spices. It carries true African energy in every cup, delivering clarity, liveliness, and a bold personality. We’re genuinely thrilled to welcome this beauty into our lineup.
