COFFEE STORY

Coffee Explained.

About the Farm

Las Quebraditas is a forward thinking project led by Edison Argote and his partner Angela in the mountains of Oporapa, Huila. Located between 1900 and 2100 meters above sea level, the 18 hectare farm is dedicated to revitalizing its land through sustainable agriculture and a focus on exceptional coffee quality. By combining organic inputs, thoughtful canopy management, and careful soil stewardship, Edison and Angela cultivate both traditional and experimental varieties while nurturing a healthy and resilient ecosystem.

About the Coffee

This lot from Finca Las Quebraditas features the renowned SL-28 variety, a Kenyan cultivar celebrated for its vibrant acidity and complex fruit character, here thriving in the high elevations of Oporapa, Huila. After careful hand-picking and flotation to select the ripest cherries, the coffee undergoes an innovative multi stage natural process. The cherries first ferment for around 72 hours, before entering a 12 day drying phase until reaching approximately 20% moisture. They are then rehydrated and fermented again for four days using a selected yeast strain, followed by a final 24 hour sealed fermentation that further enhances aromatic complexity. The coffee is finally slow dried in parabolic solar dryers at controlled temperatures of around 40°C until reaching 10% moisture, then stabilized in GrainPro bags prior to export. This meticulous and experimental processing approach highlights the expressive character of SL-28, producing a cup that is vibrant, fruit driven, and deeply layered in sweetness.

What to Expect

In the cup, this coffee is vibrant, expressive, and beautifully layered. Expect floral aroma like roses, juicy notes of wild berries accompanied by creamy white chocolate, cherry and delicate vanilla sweetness, with subtle hints of red wine adding depth and elegance. The result is a rich, fruit-forward profile with a smooth, syrupy body and a long, memorable finish.
